Igor Stravinsky

Igor Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring" was first performed in 1913. It was so dissonant to the audience it caused a riot. The ballet was a failure. It was again performed at a later date, but this time the audience fell in love with it.
Our ears are used to hearing certain rhythms, when this is disrupted, we react negatively. When I watched this clip when I was little, it bothered and frightened me, so usually I would fast forward through it.
In 1941, Walt Disney decided to include it in Fantasia.
